I won a writing award for a packing story that ran in late great National Geographic Traveler.
Here are my packing tips:
I find a veil works perfectly as an umbrella while
keeping your hair in place.
A train is a must to keep the sidewalks and hotel carpets clean.
(It’s the least we can do to thank gracious hoteliers.)
And who can resist roses, a flower that is spelled
the same in French and English?
As the alas-not-really-immortal Vogue editor Diana Vreeland once said, “Think pink.”
So I’ll be wearing this beauty from Nicole Felicia Couture on my next voyage…..
To anyone who encounters me en route and expects me to be a fashion plate,
your dreams will be shattered.
Sorry. The ballgowns and fabulous clothes I write about aren’t
in my closet–and wouldn’t fit if they were.
